The trial is the first comprehensive test to cover the canal’s entire navigable route using multiple types of vessels, and is intended to verify navigation safety and operational readiness ahead of its official opening. Four representative vessels ranging from 1,000 to 5,000 metric tons are taking part in the trial along the canal’s main route. Technicians will assess navigation stability, ship lock operations, anchorage areas, service facilities and navigation signaling systems under a range of operating conditions. Construction of the canal is now more than 98% complete.
